New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday welcomed a delegation of 48 students and five faculty coordinators from the Central University of Tamil Nadu at the Delhi Secretariat as part of the Centre’s ‘Yuva Sangam Phase VII’ programme under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative. Welcoming the young delegates, Gupta said their presence reflected the immense strength, energy and potential of India’s youth. She emphasised that despite differences in languages, lifestyles and regional traditions, the people of the country remain united by a shared national identity. Interacting with the students, the Chief Minister described Yuva Sangam as an important initiative reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of national integration. She said the programme provides young people with a unique opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to the cultures, traditions and development journeys of different states.

“Such programmes offer our youth a unique opportunity to understand the cultures, traditions and development journeys of different states. This is not merely tourism; it strengthens mutual trust, respect and the spirit of national unity,” Gupta said.

The Chief Minister also encouraged the visiting students to explore Delhi’s modern public infrastructure and understand the capital’s development initiatives. She invited them to experience the Delhi Metro network, the fleet of electric buses and the city’s progressive electric vehicle policy. Emphasising the role of young people in nation-building, Gupta urged the delegates to harness their knowledge, skills and innovative ideas to help achieve the national goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047. The University of Delhi is serving as the host nodal institution for the exchange programme and coordinating visits for the Tamil Nadu delegation to various historical and cultural landmarks, as well as sites showcasing governance and development initiatives in the national capital. The Yuva Sangam initiative aims to promote people-to-people connections, cultural understanding and national integration by providing young participants with first-hand exposure to the diversity and development of different parts of the country.
