University of Queensland (UQ) and Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) Research Academy Host RapiFuzz-Sponsored CTF Student Challenge

New Delhi: The UQ and IITD Research Academy are organising the CyberKshetra Capture the Flag (CTF) Student Challenge 2026 to offer a unique opportunity to students to exercise their abilities and test themselves on cybersecurity skills. The challenge is part of the UQ IITD Research Academy Annual Symposium 2026 and is sponsored by RapiFuzz.

The Academy offers collaborative research and study programs between the University of Queensland and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. In 2026, both institutions extended their collaborative efforts for another five years to focus on research, study and innovation.

What Students Can Expect from CyberKshetra CTF 2026

The organisers said that participants should have basic knowledge of cybersecurity, although it is not a prerequisite. CyberKshetra CTF is a Capture the Flag (CTF) Cybersecurity competition. Participants solve several challenges and find hidden flags.

The challenge is designed to help participants prepare in the CyberKshetra Lab before the competition. The challenge consists of three attractive awards:

  • A laptop as the first prize
  • Offering internships to top challenge performers
  • Participation certificates

Students from different backgrounds, primarily IT and cybersecurity, appreciate this opportunity to test their cybersecurity skills and industry exposure.

CyberKshetra CTF 2026 Important Dates

Important dates for interested participants:

  • Registration Deadline: August 20, 2026
  • Qualifying Round: September 4 and 5, 2026
  • Final Round: September 28, 2026

The Final Round will be held on the first day of the UQ IITD Research Academy Annual Symposium 2026. According to the official UQ event calendar, the dates for the Annual Symposium are September 28 to 30, 2026.

The theme for this year's symposium is "Global Challenges, Joint Solutions: Australia-India Multidisciplinary Pathways Forward.” It will bring together academics, PhD students, industry partners and government representatives to share their knowledge and explore collaboration.

Final Round to Be Held at IIT Delhi

As per the details shared by the organisers, the CyberKshetra final round will take place at IIT Delhi on September 28. The stated venue is the IRD Conference Room, 7th Floor, Main Building, IIT Delhi. The competition therefore forms a practical, student-focused component of a larger research and innovation gathering involving academic and industry participants from India and Australia.

Capture the Flag competitions are great hands-on ways to build oneself up as a problem-solver in cybersecurity. Participants need to utilise their technical skills and their understanding of the challenges. For aspiring cyber security students and professionals, this competition can be another way to build on active learning. The opportunity to engage with a real-world industry-related challenge makes this competition special and valuable.

UQ IITD Research Academy Enhances India-Australia Partnership

The CyberKshetra Challenge enables participants to work on a range of problems within the context of an already established India-Australia research partnership. The University of Queensland (UQ) mentioned in its June 2026 report that the partnership between UQ and IITD for the Research Academy has been extended for another five years. The Academy promotes collaborative research and education, and has developed a joint PhD program involving researchers from both institutions.

It is expected that participants in the 2026 Annual Symposium will engage with a broader spectrum of stakeholders, including researchers, students, and industry and government representatives, to address multidisciplinary challenges and discover collaborative solutions.
