Cultural Attache of Yemen meets VC JMI to discuss potential collaboration in Education

New Delhi: The Cultural Attache of the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen, Dr Talal Hamood Abdo Al-Mekhlafi, today called on the Vice Chancellor Jamia Millia Islamia, Prof Mazhar Asif, to discuss the potential for greater academic and cultural cooperation. The Vice Chancellor was accompanied by the Registrar JMI Prof Mahtab Alam Rizvi, along with Prof Habibullah, Hony Director Dr Zakir Hussain Institute of Islamic Studies, JMI and Prof Saima Saeed, Foreign Students' Advisor.

In the light of the National Education Policy (NEP), the Vice Chancellor Prof Asif stressed on the importance of greater academic collaboration and student exchange in the key areas of science and technology,  education, social sciences, humanities, law, teachers training and management.

Dr Talal Al-Mekhlafi noted that historically JMI has been a preferred destination for higher education for students from his country due to its rich academic  atmosphere and vibrant cultural ethos.

The meeting has opened new doors for cooperation between the universities in Yemen and Jamia Millia Islamia by the way of signing MoUs that will facilitate greater academic exchange in the future.

Prof Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar JMI expressed his deep interest in developing potential areas of collaboration including students exchange, joint research projects and cultural events.

Dr Al-Mekhlafi conveyed his gratitude for the university's outstanding support to the large number of students from Yemen who are currently pursuing various courses at JMI, ranging from graduation, post graduation and doctoral levels.
