Mahendergarh: The Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh proudly unveiled the brochure for its upcoming one-day ICSSR-sponsored national seminar, scheduled to take place on 27th November
2024, organized by the Department of Economics. The seminar titled, “Women as Catalysts for Economic Development in Punjab and Haryana: A Step Towards Viksit Bharat @ 2047”, aims to shed
light on the critical role of women in driving economic growth in these regions.
During the brochure launch, Vice Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar emphasized that the contribution of women in fostering economic development has been recognized globally. He
remarked, "Punjab and Haryana, renowned for their significant role in India's Green Revolution, have always been key drivers of the nation’s agricultural success. However, the full potential of economic growth remains untapped without equal participation of women. Despite advancements, gender disparities hinder the inclusive progress of these regions."
Prof. Ranjan Aneja, Director of the seminar, highlighted that women in Punjab and Haryana face diverse challenges, such as limited access to resources, education, and economic opportunities. "This seminar will contribute to addressing these issues and finding strategies for their holistic development and well-being," he said.
Dr. Amandeep Verma, Head of the Department of Economics and Seminar Convenor, pointed out that women’s economic empowerment is essential for societal progress. "Many women lack access to credit, market linkages, and technology, restricting their ability to participate in the formal economy.
When women succeed, societies flourish. This seminar will explore pathways to empower women in these states, in alignment with India’s vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047," Dr. Verma noted.
Organizing Secretary Mrs. Renu informed that participants are invited to submit their abstracts and full-length papers by 18th November 2024, with acceptance notifications to be sent by 20th
November 2024. She added, "We anticipate significant participation from Punjab and Haryana, but the seminar is open to scholars from across the nation as the theme holds relevance to the
development of women everywhere." The event also saw the presence of Dr. Rashmi Tanwar, along with distinguished faculty members.
This seminar promises to be a pivotal event for generating actionable insights into empowering women as key players in the economic development of Punjab and Haryana, and contributing to the
nations broader vision of inclusive and sustainable growth
