CUH organizes workshop on “Animal cell culture”

:- Prof. Neelam Sangwan, Dean, School of Interdisciplinary and Applied Sciences, and Dean Research has attended the program as chief guest

 

Haryana: Department of Biochemistry, Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh organizes a seven-day workshop on “Basic Animal Cell Culture Techniques”. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor encouraged the participants and appreciated the efforts for conducting the workshop. Prof. Neelam Sangwan, Dean, School of Interdisciplinary and Applied Sciences, and Dean Research has attended the program as chief guest and highlighted the importance of basic animal cell culture research in medicine, and cell culture importance in the development and production of vaccines on a large scale. 

Dr. Bhavani Shankar Sahu, Scientist-III from National Brain Research Centre (NBRC), Gurgaon attended the session and gave a lecture on “Regulated Exocytosis and Physiological consequences”. Dr. Bhavani Sahu emphasized on research involving the use of cell and animal models on secretory pathways of dense granule systems in the cell, and the power of mutations in secretory system proteins in lipolysis and development of hypertension. He also highlighted the importance of animal cell cultures as powerful tools in biomedical and translational research. 

A total of 25 participants from Central University of Haryana, Kurukshetra University, Choudhary Bansi Lal University, Madurai Kamaraj University, Banaras Hindu University are attending the workshop. 

This workshop is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST)-Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) under Accelerate Vigyan Karyashala scheme. Dr. Mulaka Maruthi the chairperson and event organizer has given the overview of the training in the workshop. Dr. Antresh Kumar, Dr. Usha Nagarajan and Dr. Saurabh C Saxena are in the Organizing Team. The meeting was attended by Prof. Surendra Singh and Prof. Gunjan Goel from Micro Biology Department and Dr. Mona Sharma from Environmental Sciences. A team of research scholars and M.Sc students of Biochemistry are volunteering for the workshop.
