Mahendergar : The Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergar inaugurated a Ten-Day Research Methodology Course for PG, PhD, and Post-Doctoral Scholars in Social Sciences on April 14, 2026. The programme is sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research and is being organized by the Department of Economics.
The inaugural session was graced by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Tankeshwar Kumar, and the Chief Guest, Prof.VikashChoudhary. In his address, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of rigorous research methodology, authenticity in research, and the effective use of modern tools such as AI and statistical software. He highlighted that while AI can support data analysis and interpretation, the true quality of research depends on human insight, critical thinking, and originality.
He further stressed the need to distinguish between information and noise, encouraging scholars to develop the ability to extract meaningful insights from vast digital data. He also emphasized peer learning, intellectual curiosity, and interdisciplinary approaches as essential components of becoming a competent researcher.
The Chief Guest, Prof.VikashChoudhary, in his address, spoke about the importance of comprehensive training in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, including research design, data analysis, academic writing, and publication practices. He highlighted that special emphasis is being given to practical applications, statistical, and data visualization techniques.
Prof.SunitaTanwar, Dean, School of Business and Management Studies highlighted the role of technological advancements and AI in research. She also emphasized the importance of research motivation and clarity in framing research questions.
Prof.RanjanAneja elaborated on the issue of incorrect interpretation of commonly used proverbs with illustrative examples and linked it to the misinterpretation of statistical relationships, particularly correlation and its significance. He also underlined the relevance of research in addressing real-world problems.
The Head of the Department, Dr.Sumit Kumar, stated that research is not merely a technical exercise but a transformative journey requiring dedication, focus, and continuous learning. Participants were encouraged to stay motivated, avoid distractions, and maintain a balance between research and personal growth. Prof Ajai Pal Singh, Prof Suman, Prof.Rajendra Prasad Meena, Dr. Anurag B. Singh, Dr.Rashmi, Dr.Renu and Dr.Bhusan attended the inaugural ceremony.
The programme has witnessed enthusiastic participation from scholars across various universities and institutions, fostering an environment of collaborative and peer learning. Faculty members, research scholars, and students actively engaged in discussions, making the sessions highly interactive and enriching.
The ten-day course will continue until April 23, 2026, and is expected to significantly enhance research capabilities, methodological understanding, and academic excellence among participants.
