CUH Faculty awarded with Newton Alumni Follow on Award 2023

On this occasion, the Head of the Department of Chemistry also congratulated Dr.Aninditaand further said that such international research visits and collaborations will be crucial for the research accomplishments of the Department.

Haryana :- Dr.Anindita Chakraborty of Central University of Haryana who is working as an Assistant Professor (INSPIRE FACULTY) in the Department of Chemistry has been awarded with Newton Alumni Follow-on Award, 2023 from the Royal Society, London, United Kingdom (UK).Dr.Anindita is currently working on the development and applications of materials to mitigate the emission of greenhouse gases and their conversion into valuable products.

The Newton alumni follow-on award is awarded to maintain research links in the UK and support research collaborations with the UK natural sciences and engineering communities. This award will facilitate Dr.Anindita Chakraborty for a collaborative research visit at the Department of Chemistry, University of St Andrews (founded 1413, Scotland’s oldest university), which is considered one of the best universities in the UK (Ranked 1 in the UK by Guardian University Guide, 2023). This award also has provision for a PhD student of Dr.Anindita Chakraborty to visit the University of St Andrews. It is important to mention that this is the second time Dr.Anindita has been awarded with the Newton Alumni Follow-on Award from the Royal Society. Previously,Dr.Anindita visited the University of Sussex, England with her Ph.D. student Mrs. Jyoti, who is also working in the Department of Chemistry, Central University of Haryana.

For this achievement, the Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of HaryanaProf.(Dr.) Tankeshwar Kumar congratulated Dr.Anindita Chakraborty and said that international awards from the Royal Society, London is always special and it brings laurel to the University. The Vice-Chancellor also mentioned that the University is in the process of making strong international relationship with the foreign universities and awards of this stature will be a great boon to realize that. On this occasion, the Head of the Department of Chemistry also congratulated Dr.Aninditaand further said that such international research visits and collaborations will be crucial for the research accomplishments of the Department.
