CUH Faculty awarded first position for oral presentation in the international conference at CCSHAU

On this occasion Dr. Umesh Kumar, Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Dr. Tejpal Dhewa, Department of Nutrition Biologyalso marked their gracious presence. M.Sc. Student Ms. Beena was also present during the eve of celebration.

Haryana :- Dr. Anita Kumari, Assistant Professor fromthe Department of Nutrition Biologywas awarded first position for oral presentation entitled “A comparative study on functional properties, proximate composition, minerals and fatty acid profiling of hulled barley varieties”.This marvellous exchange of scientific enlightenment took place in the International Conference on “Strategies for global food and nutritional security, sustainability and wellness” (NUTRI-2023) at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar. The presented work was a cumulative effort of the co-authors;Prof. Surender Singh, Department of Microbiology and Ms. Deepika, Ph.D. Scholar, Department of Nutrition Biology. The scientific work was a part of Ph.D. thesis of Ms. Sarita, Research Scholar of the same Department. Dr. Anita Kumari presented the research work under the thematic area “Role of agriculture and allied education in food security.

Prof.Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof.Sushma Yadav, Pro Vice Chancellor, of the University and Prof.NeelamSangwan, Dean Research, DeanSIAS, and Director R&D Cell congratulated and appreciated the efforts of the authors for performing an interdisciplinary, applied and essential research on an upcoming future superfood: Barley. The authors revealed that barley holds the future as a power house of nutrition. It is a sustainable solution to manage various non-communicable disorders and has been quoted to have anti-diabetic, anti-cytotoxic, anti-mutagenic, anti-cancer, and various other potential bioactivities. Thus, the promotion of barley in terms of production and utilization in the form of functional food products may help in reducing the burden of food, nutrition, health, and economic security.Prof. Kanti Prakash Sharma, Head of the Department of Nutrition Biology also congratulated the whole team and motivated the young researchers to carry out such visionary research work and present the same for scientific exchange at regional, national, and global level.
