New Delhi. : On the occasion of 108th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Shri NanajiDeshmukh, the Central University of Haryana (CUH) hosted the ग्रामोदयसहस्त्रविद्यादीपः program. This initiative aims to sensitize 1,000 students from rural backgrounds about biotechnology through hands-on training in DNA extraction and electrophoresis, promoting awareness of cutting-edge technological fields among young minds.Spanning 25 weeks, the program will train 40 students each week. Schools have the flexibility to either bring students to CUH on weekends or allow CUH to transport instruments and reagents to their campuses for individualized training sessions. This initiative is particularly significant, as Mahendergarh is recognized for its high-quality education, with many students annually qualifying for prestigious MBBS and IIT programs.
The event was graced by the presence of National Professor N.K. Singh from the National Institute of Plant Biotechnology in New Delhi as the chief guest, along with Shri NareshSirohi, Founder Advisor of DD Kisan Channel and National Vice-President KisanMorcha, who served as the Guest of Honor. The program began with the lighting of a lamp, Saraswatipujan, and the offering of flowers to the portrait of Bharat Ratna Shri NanajiDeshmukh, led by the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Professor Tankeshwar Kumar along with the guests.
Dr. Rupesh Deshmukh, the convenor of the program, welcomed guests, Heads of Departments, and students, and provided a comprehensive outline of the initiative. Dr.Umesh Kumar from the Department of Nutritional Science introduced the Honorable Vice Chancellor, who later addressed the gathering. Honorable Vice Chancellor sir stressed the importance of outreach programs in making education and advanced technology accessible to all and highlighted the need for dynamic and inclusive teaching methods to achieve sustainable development goals.
Following this, Prof.Pawan Kumar Maurya, the organizing secretary of the program, introduced Professor NK Singh. In his inspiring talk, Professor Singh discussed the integration of cutting-edge technology with the traditional knowledge inherited from our ancestors, emphasizing the prudent use of science and technology to promote sustainable agriculture.
Professor Kanti Prakash Sharma, joint secretary of the program, then introduced the Guest of Honor, Shri NareshSirohi. In his address, Shri Sirohi spoke about the teachings of Bharat Ratna Shri NanajiDeshmukh and how his dedicated work transformed the lives of millions in rural areas. He urged students to embody such dedication in their chosen professions and highlighted the importance of traditional Indian knowledge systems for sustainability.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Prof.Antresh Kumar, followed by the national anthem. Dr. Sunil Kumar from Vocational Studies served as the anchor for the event. Also in attendance were Dr.HumiraSonah (joint organizing secretary), Dr.Inderjeet Kaur, Dr. Ram Gopal Nitharwal, Dr. Manisha, Dr.Jitender Kumar and several other faculty members and research scholars. Students from RPS College and various departments of the Central University of Haryana participated actively in the program.
