CTET 2026 Postponed, Application Window Reopened Till September 1; New Exam Date Soon
New Delhi. : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed the 22nd edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026 and reopened the application window for eligible candidates who could not register during the earlier application period.
According to the latest public notice issued by CBSE, the CTET 2026 application window will remain open from August 25 to September 1, 2026.
Candidates who have already successfully submitted their CTET applications do not need to apply again.
Why Has CTET 2026 Been Postponed?
CBSE said the decision has been taken in view of a recent Supreme Court judgment, which emphasised providing eligible teachers with a reasonable opportunity to fulfil the statutory requirement of obtaining the prescribed Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualification.
In the interest of candidates, CBSE has therefore provided another opportunity to eligible applicants who could not use the earlier application window.

- Application start date: August 25, 2026
- Last date to apply: September 1, 2026

The earlier application window was conducted from May 11 to June 10, 2026.
Who Needs to Apply Again?
Candidates who successfully submitted their applications during the earlier application period do not need to register again.
The reopened window is primarily for eligible candidates who could not submit their applications earlier.
Candidates who are applying during the fresh window should carefully check the eligibility requirements and complete the application process before the September 1 deadline.
How to Apply for CTET 2026
Eligible candidates can follow these steps:
- Visit the official CTET website at ctet.nic.in.
- Click on the link for “Apply/Login: CTET SEP 2026” or the latest application notice displayed on the homepage.
- Open the registration/application page.
- Complete the required registration details.
- Fill in the application form and upload the required information/documents.
- Pay the applicable examination fee, where required.
- Submit the application and save a copy for future reference.
New CTET Exam Date Awaited
CBSE has not yet announced the revised examination date for CTET 2026.
Candidates are advised to regularly check the official CTET website for the revised exam schedule, admit card details and other updates.
