CMR University's Vice Chancellor Spearheads Intellectual Property Awareness Program

This recognition was extended by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, and the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trademarks

 

Bengaluru, 14 February 2023: CMR University's Vice Chancellor, Dr. HB Raghavendra, was recently recognized by the National IP Awareness Mission (NIPAM) and Intellectual Property India for his successful coordination of the Intellectual Property Awareness Program. This recognition was extended by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, and the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trademarks. The event was held on February 9th, 2023, in close collaboration with the Intellectual Property Office, Kolkata, under the banner "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav."

India's IPR regime is regulated by several laws, including the Patents Act, 1970, the Copyright Act, 1957, the Trade Marks Act, 1999, and the Designs Act, 2000. The National IP Awareness Mission (NIPAM) was launched by the Government of India in 2016 to create awareness about the importance of IP among stakeholders, including businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs. The mission aims to promote IP literacy and ensure that the benefits of IP protection reach all sections of society.
