Christmas Celebrations held at Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science

The Christmas Celebration of Hindustan Group of Institutions was held on 15 December 2022 at HITS Bay Range Campus, Padur, Chennai.

 

Chennai, 19thDecember 2022: The Christmas Celebration of Hindustan Group of Institutions was held on 15 December 2022 at HITS Bay Range Campus, Padur, Chennai. The event was presided over by Dr. Elizabeth Verghese, Founder and Chancellor, Hindustan Group of Institutions. The Chief Guest for the event, Rt. Rev. Dr. Mathews Mar Makarios Episcopa, Bishop of Chennai – Bangalore Diocese, Mar Thoma Church and the Guest of Honour, Dr. Joseph Thomas, Vice President and Business Head-Americas at Wipro Infrastructure Engineering graced the event.  

Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Chancellor, HITS, welcomed the gathering. In his speech, He remarked that this year has witnessed significant success and growth which is solely the result of the efforts of the faculties and students alike. He emphasized on the need to adapt, improvise and reinvent ourselves to become successful and be responsible citizens to serve our nation well. He ended the speech with a message to renew our dedication to duty and excel in every challenge that we will face in the upcoming year.

Mr. Ashok Verghese, Pro-Chancellor, HITS released the Institution’s calendar for the year 2023.

Chief Guest, Rt. Rev. Dr. Mathews Mar Makarios Episcopa, Bishop of Chennai – Bangalore Diocese, Mar Thoma Church delivered a moving speech on the meaning and significance of Christmas where he stated that God descended from heaven to endure human limitations on earth to teach humanity to move from where they are to where they should be. Recounting real-life incidents, stories and excerpts from the Holy Bible, he summarized that the significance of Christmas is to move from darkness to light.

Guest of Honour, Dr. Joseph Thomas, Vice President and Business Head-Americas at Wipro Infrastructure Engineering, delivered his special address where he lauded the institution’s commitment towards excellence in every step by recounting the late Founder’s vision. He encouraged the students to have an open mind, absorb everything they learn and never shy away from asking for help from others. He also shared 5 hacks to be successful which include trusting your institute, hard work with razor-sharp focus, displaying ownership, persistence & resilience and having a plan for flawless execution.  

The Choirs from the Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, K. C. G College of Technology, Hindustan College of Arts and Science, Orient Flights Aviation Academy, Mysuru and Hindustan Institute of Engineering and Technology, Padappai presented their carol rendition. Hindustan International School, Karapakkam presented a musical drama on the Christmas theme. The Yuletide Magic was performed by Hindustan International School, Guindy. Hindustan International School, Padur entertained the audience with their dance performance.

The winners of the Carol the King Competition rendered special performances during the celebration. Prizes were distributed to the winners of Carol the King, Biblia and Advent Choral Contest. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. S.N. Sridhara, Vice Chancellor, HITS. The celebration ended with the benediction rendered by Rt. Rev. Dr. Mathews Mar Makarios Episcopa.
