The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Raipur, Chhattisgarh has released a notice regarding the postponement of NEET-UG 2026 Round 1 seat allotment results. The concerned authorities have informed that as per the original state schedule, the 85% state quota allotment list would be published on 20th August 2026. However, the medical aspirants seeking admission to government and private medical colleges in the state under the state quota must wait for the revised allotment updates. The seat allocation result was deferred by the DME without mentioning the specific reasons.
Reasons Behind the Surprise Allotment Date Change
As per the information from the education department, the decision to change the allotment date was taken due to an alteration in the centralised All India Quota counselling schedule. The Medical Counselling Committee has modified its existing counselling process, which affects the state-level counselling process:
- MCC Schedule Alteration: The DME Chhattisgarh needed to follow the revised schedule of centralised counselling to avoid any possible conflicts regarding state quota admissions.
- Choice Preferences Conflict: Delaying the allotment date would prevent clashes while selecting between All India Quota and State quota seats.
- Candidate Data Verification: The Directorate is conducting internal checks on choice-preference-related information submitted by candidates.
Revised Scrutiny Dates and Reporting Schedules Awaited Soon
Since there has been a major update to the allotment schedule, the document scrutiny dates and college reporting dates for medical aspirants would also change. As per the latest instructions, the first-round reporting to medical colleges will be done after the allotment list publication. The DME office has stated that a new revised allotment schedule would be shared soon, including updated dates relating to allotment results, document verification, and final reporting to colleges. Candidates are requested to only rely on the Directorate’s official website and not believe any random news reports on social media platforms.
Status of Published Merit Lists and Choice Locking
It must be noted that the merit list and NRI list published by the DME on 18th August 2026 remains valid. Furthermore, the choice-locking window closed down on 17th August and the selections made by the candidates during this period are saved in the servers. During this time, there has been no fresh registration or choice modification window opened for Round 1 allotment.
Important Guidelines During the Waiting Period
During this waiting period, the medical candidates must keep their original documents ready in physical copies for the document scrutiny process. The important documents to be submitted during this period include NEET-UG 2026 admit card and result, class 10 and 12 mark sheets, CG domicile certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), and other address proofs. Candidates must also check the DME website (cgdme.in) or (cgdme.admissions.nic.in) for any updates regarding the allotment schedule.
