CBSE Takes a Bold Stand: 21 Schools Shut, 6 Demoted Over Dummy Admissions

In a major move to protect the integrity of education, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken strict action against 27 schools in Rajasthan and Delhi.

New Delhi : In a major move to protect the integrity of education, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken strict action against 27 schools in Rajasthan and Delhi. Following surprise inspections on September 3, 2024, the Board has disaffiliated 21 schools and downgraded 6 others for their involvement in dummy admissions—where students are enrolled but don’t attend classes regularly.

The Issue: Dummy Admissions Exposed

CBSE’s inspections targeted schools accused of unethical practices that allow students to bypass regular attendance. These practices, which undermine the core purpose of education, were found to be widespread among several institutions.

Based on inspection findings and video evidence:

21 schools lost their CBSE affiliation for hosting a high number of non-attending students in classes IX to XII.

6 schools were demoted from Senior Secondary to Secondary level for failing to meet compliance standards.

CBSE’s Firm Message

In its statement, CBSE emphasized its commitment to delivering quality education and warned schools against such unethical practices: “The practice of dummy or non-attending admissions contradicts the mission of school education, compromising students’ growth. CBSE is determined to root out these practices and uphold ethical standards in education.”
