Central Board of Secondary Education Suspends Affiliation of G D Goenka High School for One Year Over Safety and Infrastructure Violations

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has suspended the affiliation of G D Goenka High School, Sohna, Gurugram, Haryana, for one academic year (2026–27) following serious violations of the Board’s Affiliation Bye-Laws related to student safety, infrastructure sharing, and campus segregation.

No Admission in Class IX and XI for 2026–27

As per the CBSE order, the school will not be permitted to admit students in Class IX and Class XI during the 2026–27 academic session. However, students currently enrolled in Classes IX to XII will be allowed to continue their education, subject to the school ensuring complete safety and security on campus.

CBSE Directs Complete Separation of Institutions

CBSE has directed the school management to disengage all other institutions operating from the same premises and ensure that the entire building, laboratories, playgrounds, and infrastructure are used exclusively by G D Goenka High School students.

The Board has also ordered:

  • Construction of a six-foot-high concrete boundary wall around the entire school campus
  • Separate and exclusive entry and exit for the school from the main road
  • No sharing of infrastructure or human resources with any other institution
  • Establishment of a Composite Science Laboratory strictly as per CBSE norms
  • Proper maintenance of all statutory and academic records as mandated under Affiliation Bye-Laws 2018

Suspension Aimed at Protecting Students’ Interests

CBSE clarified that while violations were clearly established during inspection, the one-year suspension was imposed after taking a sympathetic view in the interest of students’ future, allowing the school time to rectify deficiencies and ensure a safe learning environment.

The Board has issued a strong warning to the school to strictly comply with all CBSE norms, circulars, and safety guidelines. Failure to fully address the shortcomings within the suspension period may invite further regulatory action.

The decision reinforces CBSE’s stance that student safety, campus security, and non-commercialisation of school education are non-negotiable under its affiliation framework.
