Who Can Apply for CBSE Private Candidate Exam 2027?

The private candidate facility is not an open registration option for every student. CBSE has specified categories and conditions under which candidates can appear. These include eligible candidates who were declared Essential Repeat, candidates placed in Compartment, certain candidates who were declared Fail/Essential Repeat in previous examinations, and eligible students seeking Improvement of Performance.

Candidates should therefore identify their correct examination category before completing the application rather than selecting an option simply because it appears relevant. For Class 10 and Class 12, the applicable eligibility conditions are given in the respective CBSE notifications.

CBSE Private Candidate Form 2027 Fees

For candidates appearing from India, the examination fee is ₹320 per subject under the normal fee structure. Candidates applying from Nepal are required to pay ₹1,100 per subject, while candidates from other countries are required to pay ₹2,200 per subject.  A late fee of ₹2,000, in addition to the prescribed examination fee, applies during the late-fee application window. How to Apply for CBSE Private Candidate Form 2027?

Candidates should visit the official CBSE website and access the private candidate examination form section. Before submitting the application, candidates should carefully verify:

  • Previous examination and roll-number details
  • Correct examination category
  • Subjects selected
  • Examination city
  • Personal and contact details
  • Applicable fee
  • Supporting documents, wherever required

CBSE's private-candidate process is conducted online, including fee payment. The Board has previously specified that offline applications and offline fee payments are not accepted.

A Special Note for Students Seeking Inclusive Support

CBSE also provides prescribed exemptions and concessions for Children with Special Needs (CwSN). Eligible students should check the Board's applicable guidelines and submit the required supporting documentation while applying. CBSE

This is important because accessibility should not become an afterthought during examination registration. Students requiring approved accommodations should verify the requirements early rather than waiting until the examination stage.

What Should Candidates Do Now?

The most important date is October 23, 2026, when the regular application window closes. Candidates who need to apply should first confirm their eligibility and category then complete the form and fee payment well before the deadline.

Those who miss the regular window can use the October 24-30 late-fee window, subject to CBSE's prescribed rules. A small form-filling mistake can create a much bigger problem later. So, before clicking submit, check every detail once more.
