New Delhi: Following the declaration of the results of its 2026 Class 12 board examinations, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has revised the amount of fees payable to avail of reassessment facilities. The rates mentioned in the notice released on 15th May, 2026, which discussed the schedule according to which these services will be provided, have been changed as of 17th May, 2026.
The reassessment facilities were primarily introduced in light of concerns surrounding the On Screen Marking (OSM) system. OSM—a digital evaluation system where, instead of physical answer scripts, scanned copies of the same are assessed on a computer screen—was adopted by the CBSE to ensure greater uniformity, accuracy, confidentiality, and efficiency in the evaluation process. Yet, many stakeholders continue to have doubts regarding the validity of these improvements, and have anxieties about evaluation discrepancies and privacy-breaches affecting their future prospects.
Thus, the board has introduced a three-stage post-result declaration reassessment process to address these concerns. Moreover, to ensure that these services may be accessible to students of all economic backgrounds, the fees for the same have been made significantly cheaper.
Candidates may apply to obtain the scanned copies of their evaluated answer books between 19th and 22nd May, 2026. Originally charging ₹700, no more than ₹100 will now be charged for this service. The services of verification of observed issues as well as re-evaluation may be applied for between 26th and 29th May, 2026. The fees for verification have been reduced from ₹500 to ₹100, while the same for re-evaluation have been lowered to ₹25 per question from ₹100 per question.
Should there be an increase in a candidate’s marks upon re-evaluation, these fees will be refunded.
More information on the verification/re-evaluation facilities extended by the CBSE to its Class 12 students is available on the official website of the board.
