CBSE Launches Aryabhata Ganit Challenge 2025 to Foster Mathematical Application in Schools

Two-stage competition to strengthen mathematical thinking and real-life application skills

New Delhi : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued Circular No. Acad-69/2025, introducing the Aryabhata Ganit Challenge (AGC) 2025 — a two-stage mathematics competition aimed at helping students apply mathematical concepts to real-life situations.

What is the Aryabhata Ganit Challenge?

The AGC is designed to evaluate and enhance students’ competence in mathematics by focusing on practical, analytical, logical, and abstract thinking.
It covers topics such as geometry & spatial sense, algebra, number system, data analysis & probability, mensuration, number sense and others.

Who Can Participate & How It Works

Eligibility: Students of Classes VIII to X in CBSE-affiliated schools can participate in Stage 1.
Stages:

  • School-Level Stage: Schools register between 19 to 30 September 2025. CBSE provides the question papers via its portal; exams are conducted by the schools. Top three students from each school will move to the next stage.
  • CBSE Academics
  • National-Level Stage: The selected students sit for an online, computer-based test on 29 October 2025.

Fees: Stage 1 involves no fee. Stage 2 requires a registration fee of ₹900 per school.

Assessment Format & Recognition

  • The exam for both stages will be a 1-hour multiple-choice paper worth 40 marks, without negative marking.
  • From each region, the top 100 students in Stage 2 will receive Merit Certificates.
  • In addition, top 10 schools per region, based on student participation in Stage 1, will get Appreciation Certificates.

This initiative underscores CBSE’s growing emphasis on bridging the gap between textbook mathematics and its real-world application. By scaffolding both school-level engagement and national-level competition, the challenge aims to stimulate interest, adaptability, and skills essential for 21st-century learning.
