New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued detailed instructions to all affiliated schools regarding the conduct of Practical Examinations, Projects, and Internal Assessments for Classes X and XII for the academic session 2025–26.
As per the latest circular issued by CBSE Controller of Examinations Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, practical examinations will commence from January 1, 2026, and must be completed by February 14, 2026.
Key Highlights of the CBSE Circular
Schools must ensure the availability of practical answer books well in advance and coordinate with regional offices if required.
- Parents and students must be informed about the practical exam schedule for strict compliance.
- Laboratories must be fully equipped with necessary infrastructure, materials, and equipment.
- Schools must contact CBSE-appointed External Examiners in advance for smooth conduct.
- Special arrangements for Children With Special Needs (CWSN) are mandatory to ensure equal participation.
- Marks must be uploaded daily on the same day of assessment; no corrections will be allowed once uploaded.
- Principals must verify maximum marks before uploading, as post-result correction requests will not be entertained.
- Marks awarded must be strictly performance-based, as declared in the examiner’s undertaking.
- No exemption will be granted to students participating in national or international sports events.
- For Class XII, only CBSE-appointed External Examiners are authorized; any deviation will render the assessment null and void.
- CBSE has the authority to cancel practical examinations if guidelines are violated.
- From February 1, 2026, Principals must regularly review the status of practical exams and marks submission.
- CBSE has also enhanced remuneration rates for all examination functionaries effective from Examinations 2026.
CBSE has advised schools to contact their respective Regional Offices in case of any clarification. The Board extended New Year 2026 wishes to school heads, appreciating their commitment to academic integrity and student welfare.
