CBSE Issues Advisory to Schools on Ensuring Procurement of Genuine NCERT Textbooks
New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an important advisory to all CBSE-affiliated schools regarding the increasing circulation of counterfeit or fake NCERT textbooks in the market. The Board has expressed concern that unauthorised booksellers are supplying low-quality, error-ridden versions of NCERT books at discounted prices, posing a risk to students’ learning and academic accuracy.
In the circular addressed to school principals, CBSE warned that these counterfeit textbooks often contain printing flaws, incorrect content, and poor material quality, which may adversely impact students’ understanding of concepts and overall educational experience.
Schools Advised to Promote Purchase of Authentic NCERT Textbooks
CBSE has urged all schools to counsel parents and students to buy only genuine NCERT textbooks from officially authorised channels. Schools procuring textbooks directly must also ensure they purchase exclusively from recognised sources approved by CBSE and NCERT.

NCERT Regional Production & Distribution Centres (RPDCs)
- Authorised vendors listed on the NCERT website (ncert.nic.in)
- NCERT Postal Supply Service via the NCERT portal
- Official NCERT Amazon storefront (amazon.in/NCERT)
RPDC Contact Details Shared for Assistance
To facilitate smooth procurement, CBSE has circulated contact details of NCERT Regional Production & Distribution Centres across major cities including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Guwahati, Kolkata, and Delhi. Schools have been encouraged to reach out to the nearest centre for support.

CBSE has directed all affiliated schools to circulate this advisory among teachers, parents, and students. The Board emphasized that adherence to official supply channels is essential to safeguarding academic integrity and maintaining the quality and correctness of learning resources used in classrooms.
