CBSE Introduces AI Based Online Proctored Exam for School Counselors to Strengthen Student Well being

CBSE introduces AI-enabled online proctored assessment for 10,000 school counselors starting February 2026 to strengthen student mental health support and digital evaluation systems.

New Delhi. ; The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched an innovative Online Remote Invigilation Examination (Proctored Assessment) for School Counseling and Wellness Teachers, marking a major step toward strengthening student support systems across affiliated schools.

This initiative is part of CBSE’s broader capacity-building and quality assurance framework, aiming to certify and assess nearly 10,000 school counselors in a phased manner. The first batch of the assessment has already commenced from February 2026.

Unlike traditional examinations, this assessment focuses on evaluating counselors’ practical skills, ethical understanding, and real-world application abilities. The goal is to ensure that counselors are well-equipped to address the growing socio-emotional needs of students in modern educational environments.

The examination is being conducted through an AI-enabled platform, DIGI-EXAM, which ensures a secure, transparent, and standardized evaluation process. It also helps counselors become familiar with advanced digital assessment tools.

Key Highlights of the Initiative:

  • Secure and scalable digital examination system
  • Enhanced integrity, consistency, and credibility in evaluation
  • Remote accessibility ensuring equitable participation
  • Alignment with national digital education goals and global best practices

CBSE’s move reflects a forward-looking approach toward prioritizing mental health and emotional well-being in schools. By combining rigorous evaluation with cutting-edge technology, the Board aims to raise professional standards for school counselors nationwide.

Important Advisory for Schools:

All CBSE-affiliated schools are required to ensure the participation of their Counseling and Wellness Teachers as per the Board’s nomination process. These nominations are based on counselor data updated on the OASIS portal, making it essential for schools to maintain accurate and up-to-date information.

This initiative is expected to create a future-ready, digitally empowered assessment ecosystem, ultimately benefiting students through better-trained and certified counselors.
