CBSE Experience Centre Inaugurated in New Delhi to Promote Experiential Learning

Union Education Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi inaugurated the CBSE Experience Centre at the CBSE Integrated Complex in Dwarka, New Delhi, on October 27, 2026. The centre has been established at CBSE headquarters to provide students with an immersive learning environment that goes beyond textbooks and classroom-based instruction.

The initiative aims to encourage curiosity, creativity, independent thinking and confidence while introducing students to the evolution of education, emerging technologies and future career opportunities.

CBSE Experience Centre: Key Features

The centre covers 6,000 square feet and houses 12 broad zones with 21 exhibits. Visitors can use RFID-enabled smart cards to interact with exhibits, participate in activities, access personalised takeaways and engage with game-based leaderboards.

The centre connects India's educational traditions with modern learning approaches and emerging career pathways.

Pralhad Joshi Emphasises Practical and Holistic Learning

Addressing the gathering, Shri Pralhad Joshi stressed the need to move beyond rote learning and excessive emphasis on examination scores. He said education should recognise students' individual interests, abilities and learning capacities while helping them understand concepts through practical experiences.

The Minister highlighted the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises experiential and holistic learning. He noted that students should observe, experiment and apply scientific concepts rather than merely memorise them.

Referring to the role of Atal Tinkering Labs in promoting innovation and scientific temper, Joshi stated that 10,000 such labs were already operational across the country and that the government had decided to establish an additional 50,000 labs.

He also referred to the Seva First Innovation Challenge and highlighted the importance of practical experimentation and problem-solving in nurturing future innovators.

From India's Educational Heritage to Modern Classrooms

The experience begins with ‘Shiksha Ki Kahani’, a film narrated through a representational voice personifying the river Saraswati. It traces the development of education in India, from the gurukul system and historic learning centres such as Nalanda to modern schools and digital classrooms.

A dedicated section presents the evolution of CBSE through historical photographs and archival material, including records dating back to 1935. Another exhibit introduces visitors to Earth's history through a visual and interactive geological timeline spanning millions of years.

These experiences seek to connect India's educational heritage with contemporary approaches to learning and the vision of Viksit Bharat.

Interactive Career Exploration and Future Professions

The centre includes interactive exhibits designed to help students explore career options and understand how professions may evolve.

Key attractions include:

  • Career Explorer: Helps students explore different career possibilities.

  • Future of Professions: Introduces visitors to changing workplace and career trends.

  • Magic Mirror: Future You: Offers an interactive experience centred on future possibilities.

  • Holographic interactions: Features eminent personalities, including Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.

These exhibits aim to make career awareness more engaging and help students consider opportunities in a changing world of work.

Exam Warriors and Student Well-being

A dedicated kiosk on ‘Exam Warriors’, the book by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, focuses on developing a healthier approach to examinations.

The experience highlights confidence, stress management and a positive attitude, reinforcing the importance of student well-being alongside academic achievement.

Eduverse: Learning Through Immersive Experiences

The centre concludes with ‘Eduverse’, which combines motion-based interaction and multisensory elements. Visitors are taken through natural landscapes, including forests, oceans and the Himalayas, before travelling imaginatively to the Moon and other planets.

The experience returns to Earth with a message about the interconnectedness of natural systems and the role every individual plays in the living planet.

A Step Towards Future-Ready Education

The CBSE Experience Centre reflects an approach to education that places practical engagement, curiosity and student-centred learning alongside academic knowledge. By combining historical narratives, interactive technology, career exploration and environmental awareness, the centre seeks to make learning more engaging and relevant to students' future needs.

The initiative aligns with the broader emphasis on experiential and holistic education under NEP 2020 and the vision of preparing young people to contribute to India's development by 2047.
