CBSE CTET September 2026 City Slip Soon: Exam City, Admit Card, Pattern

The CTET September 2026 city slip is still to come, and the CBSE has not shared when and at what time the city slip will be released. As of now, the official CTET website states that the city intimation slip will be available in advance. Candidates are advised to ignore any dates circulating on social media. Once the city slip is out, candidates will know the city where they are expected to appear for the exam. This slip helps candidates in making travel arrangements and booking accommodation before the release of the complete admit card.

CTET September 2026 Exam Date and Timings

CTET 2026 is scheduled to be conducted on 6th September 2026. The examination will be held in two shifts:

If an additional examination day is required due to a large number of candidates, CBSE has left scope for 5th September 2026.

CTET City Slip vs Admit Card: Do Not Confuse Them

City intimation slip is not the same as the admit card. The city intimation slip gives an outline of the examination city, and the complete address of the examination center and all other instructions will be provided in the admit card. As per the official update, the admit card will be available two days before the exam. If the examination is proceeding on 6th September 2026, it indicates that the admit card will be available on 4th September 2026. Can Candidates Choose Their CTET Exam City?

As per the CTET prospectus, the city is allocated randomly by CBSE. Candidates are not provided the option to choose the city of their preference, and requests to change the allocated city are not entertained. This makes the appointment slip of utmost importance to candidates travelling from a distant city or state.

CTET September 2026 Exam Pattern

CTET is scheduled to be a pen-and-paper-based examination in offline mode. Each paper will have 150 multiple-choice questions of 150 marks each.

Paper 1

Candidates interested in teaching from classes 1 to 5 must appear for Paper 1, which includes the following segments.

• Child Development and Pedagogy
• Mathematics
• Environmental Studies
• Language I
• Language II

Paper 2

Candidates interested in teaching from classes 6 to 8 must appear for Paper 2 which includes the following segments.

• Child Development and Pedagogy
• Language I
• Language II
• Mathematics and Science or
• Social Studies/ Social Science.

Candidates interested in both levels of eligibility may appear for both the papers simultaneously.

CTET Qualifying Marks

For candidates in the general category, 60 percent (90 out of 150) is the CTET qualifying mark. Candidates from reserved categories require 55 percent (82 out of 150) qualifying marks as per the rules and regulations. Qualifying CTET in itself is not a recruitment for the post of a teacher; it only provides eligibility to candidates for teacher recruitment in which CTET is one of the mandatory requirements.

Candidates should not wait for the city slip and should finish preparation for the exam. The following should be prepared:

• Application number and login details
• Copies of the application form
• Duplicate of valid ID proof
• Preparation notes and old questions
• Booking for tickets if the exam city is out of town
