New Delhi, December 19, 2024 — The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has undertaken surprise inspections across 29 schools in five states and one Union Territory on December 18 and 19, 2024. These inspections aim to ensure strict compliance with the Board’s norms and Affiliation Bye-Laws.
Regions and Inspection Details
- December 18: Inspections conducted in Delhi.
- December 19: Inspections extended to Bengaluru (Karnataka), Patna (Bihar), Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh), Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), and Ahmedabad (Gujarat).
A total of 29 teams, each consisting of a CBSE officer and a principal from an affiliated school, carried out these inspections in a synchronized manner to maintain the element of surprise and ensure accurate findings.
Key Focus Areas of the Inspections
The inspections primarily assessed:
- Student Enrollment Records: Verifying attendance and ensuring no discrepancies.
- Infrastructure Facilities: Evaluating compliance with CBSE’s infrastructural norms.
- Overall Functioning: Ensuring adherence to operational guidelines and standards.
Findings and Violations
The inspections revealed significant violations, including:
- Enrollment Discrepancies: Many schools were found to have “non-attending” enrollments, falsely inflating their student numbers.
- Infrastructural Non-Compliance: Several schools failed to meet the Board’s infrastructural requirements.
CBSE’s Response to Violations
CBSE has taken serious note of these breaches and is in the process of issuing show-cause notices to the defaulting schools. Additionally, the Board is considering legal action against institutions found in violation of regulations.
