CBSE Class 10 Phase 2 Result: The Important Info to Have Now

The Central Board of Secondary Education is nearly ready to publish the CBSE Class 10 Second Board Exam Result 2026, and for the first time in a while, Class 10 students across the country have a reason to sit tight and wait. The students who took the improvement and compartment papers in May have reason to be even more excited. Many of them have been reloading web pages to check for updates.

Although there's no official confirmation, several news sites have reported that, given the time gaps between other exam phases, the scorecard will be available sometime around June 16.

The results will be available in the same places as before:

  • cbseresults.nic.in
  • cbse.gov.in
  • results.cbse.nic.in
  • DigiLocker and the UMANG app

Approximately 668,854 people signed up for this round. 85,285 of them enrolled in compartment exams only, while 525,655 took improvement exams, and 57,914 students registered for both types. The exams took place from May 15 to May 21 and started with the Mathematics exams (Standard and Basic) and ended with Social Science.

Why These Results Carry Extra Significance This Year

It's not an ordinary result update. It's the first cycle of the dual board exam system of Class 10 that has come to an end. This is a new system implemented by the CBSE through the National Education Policy of 2020. The goal was to create a less stressful system that did not leave students with only one opportunity to pass the exam.

Phase 1 happened from February 17 to March 10 and was the first part of the new system. Its results were published on April 16, and the overall passing rate for this phase was 93.70%. This is a marginal increase from the previous year’s rate of 93.66%. Once more, female students outperformed male students, as the rates were 94.99% and 92.60%, respectively.

In Phase 2, the system favors students even more:

  • The board will match the Phase 1 and Phase 2 scores of each subject individually.
  • The higher score will be recorded on the final marksheet, for up to three subjects that students choose to improve.
  • If a student scored 70 in Maths in Phase 1, and then scored 78 in Phase 2, then that student will have the score of 78 recorded on the marksheet.
  • If the score in Phase 2 ends up being lower, then the score from Phase 1 will stay as is.

In order to pass, students still need to score a minimum of 33% in each subject, including the theory and the internal assessments.

How to Download Your Result and What Happens After

Viewing your result becomes a lot easier when the link becomes active. Students must have their roll number and school number, along with their DOB and admit card ID. The portal requires all four to prepare the marksheet.

  • Go to cbseresults.nic.in and select the link for Class 10 Second Board Exam Result
  • Input your roll number, school number, admit card ID and DOB

In case you are not able to pass all subjects, you will have to attempt the compartment exam, which will be conducted in July. Results for this exam will be published in August. Students who are not satisfied with their score can request for their marks be verified, photocopies of answer sheets, or apply for a reevaluation once the window has opened. Until the window opens, it is recommended to rely on CBSE's portal and ignore any other site posting results.
