Haryana: Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Central Library conducted a Book Cover Design Competition at Central University of Haryana, Mahendergarh under National Library Week with the blessings and direction of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar. 42 students from various University Departments participated in the event. The University Librarian Dr. Santosh Hulagabali, motivated the students and told how book and colours help in organizing the life and to keep life in order. He also told that, people judge the books by its cover. Whether they are browsing options online or in a brick-and-mortar store, the first thing that catches their attention is the images and fonts on the front, which means that you need to make sure you have a darn good book cover design.

The coordinator of the event, Information Scientist, Dr. Vinita Malik, informed that the book covers are the book’s billboard, and even without the reader or author knowing, it causes expectation. The Deputy Librarian, Dr. Rajeev Vashistha shared the rules of the competition to all the participants. Mr. Naresh Kumar Assistant librarian also shared his viewpoint regarding the importance of book covers.  The prizes and certificates were also awarded for motivation by the judge of the event, Prof. Ajay Kumar Bansal, Dept. of Electrical Engineering and Dr. Amit Kumar, Dept. of Hindi.
