BITSAT Session 2 2026: Exam Window One Week Away:
In just nine days, the BITSAT first session will begin, and students who have been preparing for the entirety of the year are now able to complete the examination process and start their engineering careers. For the first time, BITS has also announced the opening of the BITSAT 2026 Session 2 exam, with testing dates spanning May 25 to May 27, 2026. BITS has also announced that the in-person Admission Testing will be conducted at designated Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centres across the country. According to an official notification, the Session 2 admit card will be available on May 20, 2026, on the official BITS Pilani admissions page.
Candidates registering for Session 2 can download their hall ticket by entering their application number and password. Session 2 has a slot booking period set for May 14 to 15. Candidates who were unable to complete the booking process will be assigned an exam date and shift by the system. The exam will be conducted in two shifts, with the first one scheduled from 9 AM to 12 PM and the second from 2 PM to 5 PM.
Who Can Appear and Why Session 2 Is A Strategic Opportunity
BITSAT Session 2 should not be viewed as a backup. For many students, it’s a smarter second chance. Students who were unsatisfied with their scores during Session 1 (April 15 - 16, 2026) can take Session 2 to correct this. BITS Pilani considers the admissions score from the higher of the two sessions they appear for, meaning there is no risk in taking Session 2. Candidates who registered for Session 2 between April 20 and May 2, 2026 also have the opportunity to take the test.
The timing is in the students’ favor as most of the Class 12 board examinations will be completed by the end of May, providing easier preparation during the board exams as compared to April. Students who had board exams that coincided with Session 1 will have a preparation window before the exams. BITS Pilani also has a tuition-blind scholarship this year, meaning top 500 BITSAT 2026 rankers (with family income below Rs 20 lakh per annum) will receive a full tuition waiver for the 4-year program
Exam Structure, Topics Covered, and the Test's Goals
BITSAT 2026 is an online test with 130 multiple-choice questions and gives exactly 180 minutes to complete it. The questions are split into a Physics section with 30 questions, a Chemistry section with 30 questions, a 40-question Mathematics or Biology section (depending on whether the test taker is an engineering or pharmacy aspirant), and a 30-question section that combines English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning. Every correct answer gets 3 marks, a wrong answer is scored -1, and unattempted questions are scored 0.
Sections are not timed. Candidates can answer questions in any order they prefer and move between sections. A unique aspect of the test is that candidates who finish answering the 130 questions (or reach the time limit) are given 3 bonus questions for each section. Since bonus questions are not scored negatively, candidates cannot return to the original questions after entering the bonus section. The total score for the standard test is 390 marks. The syllabus is the NCERT Class 11 and 12 syllabus. It has not changed in previous years.
