Why Birla Global University's New Registrar Appointment Could Strengthen Academic Governance

Birla Global University welcomes Tanmay Pattanayak as its new Registrar. Pattanayak is an experienced higher education administrator. Pattanayak's previous experience will help strengthen Birla Global University’s facilities for academic administration and compliance with university regulations and will guide the future strategic development of the university.

June 23, 2026 | Bhubaneswar: In a recent announcement, Birla Global University, a prestigious university in Bhubaneswar, has appointed Tanmay Pattanayak as University Registrar. Birla Global University is keen to strengthen its academic administration and governance with the recent appointment. With the knowledge of a higher education administrator, Pattanayak imbues the extensive administrative skills in university governance, compliance with statutes, accreditation, academic administration, and the establishment of institutions.

In his earlier role, he was the Registrar of Jagannath University, Rajasthan. Pattanayak, while being the Registrar of Jagannath University, was instrumental in establishing the governance structures and modernizing and developing the administration of the University. Along with this, he has held important administrative positions in KIIT University, Bhubaneswar. In his professional life, he has achieved important milestones in regulatory and accreditation activities such as accreditation from NAAC (twice), accreditation by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and approvals from UGC, BCI, Council of Architecture (COA), National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and approvals for Online and Open & Distance Learning Programmes from UGC DEB.

The new registrar of Birla Global University was extended a warm welcome by Prof. Kulbhushan Balooni, the Vice Chancellor, Birla Global University About his association with Birla Global University, Tanmay Pattanayak shared the following thoughts: The growth of Birla Global University, an institution dedicated to cultivating an academically and professionally successful student body, has grown steadily throughout the years. I am proud to be affiliated with the University. I am grateful I will have the opportunity to work with the University’s management, faculty, and other staff members. I will work to advance the University and facilitate collaboration through governance transformation and administration optimization.

When he becomes the Registrar, he will manage the governance, statutory, and administrative processes of the University and the regulatory framework, and optimize coordination within the University to implement strategies aimed at enhancing the academic practices and processes of the University. For Birla Global University, this means a further step forward on the road to accomplishing more on the organizational and leadership front, toward creating an innovative and intellectual academic space for the future.
