Varanasi: Nationwide inauguration of Dr. Ambedkar Center of Excellence in 31 Central Universities of the country was inaugurated from the auditorium of Agriculture Department of Banaras Hindu University on April 22, 2022.

The scheme was inaugurated by Dr. Virender Kumar, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment and Chairman of Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and University Vice Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain and Super 30 founder Anand Kumar. Other chief guests were State Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhaumik and A. Narayanswami.

Ministry for Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India in collaboration with Dr. Ambedkar Center of Excellence will provide free coaching for scheduled caste students for civil services examinations. 

Facts about Dr Ambedkar Center of Excellence:

• There will be 100 seats in each center, of which 33% will be reserved for girl students of scheduled castes
• The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will provide 75 lakhs annually to the university through Dr. Ambedkar Foundation for the operation of each center
•  For taking free coaching, the entrance test will be conducted by the university
• Three faculty members will be appointed at each center
