Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM) Bets Big on Deep-Tech Initiative on Its Transformative Journey
Chennai, October 27, 2025: Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM), Tiruchirappalli — one of India’s premier management institutions — is embarking on an ambitious transformation journey centered around deep-tech innovation, sustainability, and policy collaboration. The institute, founded in 1984 by Bharat Ratna Shri C. Subramaniam, Prof. P. S. Mani Sundaram, and Padma Bhushan Dr. V. Krishnamurthy in partnership with BHEL, continues to uphold its founding vision of blending academic excellence with industrial relevance.
The highlight of BIM’s new phase of growth is its collaboration with iTamilnadu Technology (iTNT) Foundation, the state’s nodal agency for promoting innovation in emerging technologies. This partnership aims to position Tamil Nadu as a global deep-tech hub by fostering research, entrepreneurship, and capacity building in advanced technology domains. BIM is already working with multiple digital firms to deliver AI/ML-driven solutions in healthcare, banking, and finance sectors worldwide.
New Milestones and Future Vision
As BIM approaches its 40th year, the institute is investing heavily in several Centers of Excellence, focusing on next-generation technologies, sustainability, and industry linkages. Its upcoming 350,000 sq ft green campus in Tiruchirappalli — spread across 19 acres — stands as a model of sustainable institutional design. The campus integrates renewable energy, advanced water management, and VayuJal technology for generating potable water from air moisture, aligning with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standards.
Mr. Ravi Appasamy, Chairman, Board of Governors, lauded Tamil Nadu’s leadership in higher education and reaffirmed BIM’s commitment to setting new benchmarks in management education and research. “India’s young demographic offers a unique advantage in today’s global business environment,” he said. “We seek continued government support to achieve research center status and expand our capacity on this transformative path.”
Deep Commitment to Research, Policy, and Governance
BIM has established a Centre for Research and Development Studies to bridge academia, industry, and government — enabling collaborative research and innovation. The institute also serves as the Academic Partner for the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s Two-Year Fellowship Program, empowering young professionals to contribute to governance and public policy.

- Supporting the State Planning Commission’s Focus Block Development Program in 12 districts.
- Collaborating with iTNT Foundation for deep-tech and digital skilling initiatives.

- Partnering with CMDA on sustainable urban planning.
- Joining the CII Taskforce to establish Tiruchirappalli as a Global Capability Centre hub.
33rd Graduation Day Graced by Chief Minister
BIM celebrated its 33rd Graduation Day on October 27, 2025, at The Music Academy, Chennai. The event was graced by Thiru. M. K. Stalin, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, as the Chief Guest, who delivered the Graduation Day Address. A total of 197 graduates received their degrees, with medals awarded to top performers. The Chief Minister also launched BIM’s Research Incubation Compendium at the event.
Expressing gratitude, BIM acknowledged the Chief Minister’s consistent support in strengthening higher education and promoting inclusive, sustainable growth in the state.
