West Bengal: Partha Chatterjee, a former minister from Bengal who was detained for allegedly taking part in a teacher recruitment fraud, has become religious during his stay behind bars.On Tuesday, Partha's attorney Sukanya Bhattacharya sent two books from his home to Presidency jail. The two books are Mahasweta Devi's "Amanibas" and Mahendranath Gupta's "Sri Sri Ramakrishna Kathamrita." The activities of the Indian spiritual Ramakrishna Paramahamsa in the 19th century are the inspiration for "Sri Sri Ramakrishna Kathamrita."

Partha had already asked his attorneys to send him some books so he could read them while he was being held in custody.

In the past, Partha has also received books from the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Partha Chatterjee, according to sources, wants to document his daily experiences and memories from his time in judicial custody. According to sources, Partha Chatterjee also voiced concern for his family members on Tuesday.

NO SPECIAL PRIVILEGE

After serving the entire term of ED detention, Partha Chatterjee was transferred to judicial custody.

According to sources cited by India Today, Partha Chatterjee is not granted any preferential treatment while incarcerated.

He is living in jail like a regular person, and we have complete faith in the legal system and the judiciary, according to his counsel. He will eventually establish his innocence through legal means as we battle.
