Bengaluru :Azim Premji University has opened admissions for its internship as part of Forests of Life, the second festival under the Nature Awareness series organized by Azim Premji University.

The purpose of the festival is to tell stories of forests through images, folklore and information from experts, all from various parts of India. The festival is also the coming together of diverse stakeholders, distinct geographies, cultural traditions and documentation of how forests enrich the planet. Students are required to document forests through photos and videos with either mobile or professional cameras to showcase biodiversity, conflicts, cultural affiliations, threats and hopes for forests. Students will also serve as custodians of the forest.

Currently, applications for the internship are open and will close on January 15 (Sunday), 2023. The duration of the internship is three months, beginning on February 15 and ending on April 15 through April 30, with the time being given for students to submit their work. The Forest of Life festival will take place from October to November of 2023 . Any and all students above 18 years of age from India are allowed to submit their applications for this internship.

Applicants must include ten (10) photographs taken from their mobile phone/camera, with each photo having a caption. They must also write concept note of 200-250 words about one of the following themes: forests for life (ecology and biodiversity, environment, climate change), people of the forest (food, culture, livelihoods and ways of life), forests as sacred, spiritual and living entities or changing forests - imagining new ways of coexistence (cities, industries, transforming rural landscapes). The concept note must include a title and short description, theme and sub-themes selected, the significance of the concept note and the location of study.

Select applicants will be shortlisted and invited for an interview and interns who are selected will attend workshops on photography skills, awareness and ethics on forests.
