Who Is Eligible for Assam HS Final Exam 2027?

The candidate guidelines have shed light on the eligibility criteria for the examination. As per the notification, only eligible regular candidates can appear for the examination. The following students are considered eligible:

  • Those who have been admitted during the 2025–26 academic session and have appeared for HS First Year Examination 2026.
  • Those who have been admitted through the SUJOG portal in 2026.

Some students who have been failed in any of the previous HS Final Examinations and have taken readmission in the HS Second Year on the following criteria can also apply: They must check the detailed rules on readmission, combination of subjects, compulsory school tests, etc., which will be prescribed by the board.

Assam HS 2027 Passing Marks: Understanding the 33% Rule

The guidelines clearly mentioned the minimum passing marks, which is at least 33% of the aggregate of the marks of the six subjects. Additionally, the notification mentioned the minimum passing marks of theory and practical or project, if any. Students must make sure that they meet the passing conditions for each component in their chosen subjects.

It is suggested that the candidates understand their own assessment structure, per their stream. To this end, they may refer to the official notification and the requirements pertaining to their individual subjects.

Six Compulsory Subjects: Can Students Skip One?

No. Candidates are said to be eligible for the HS Final Examination only if they have appeared for the six subjects mentioned on the admit card. The guidelines read, “Absence from one or more of the subjects mentioned in the admit card, for whatever reason, shall be regarded as failure in the HS Final Examination.” The board has also given instructions regarding the result calculation. It said, “For the result, the total marks of the best 5 subjects out of the 6 subjects appeared shall be taken.”

This does not mean that students can skip appearing for one of the examinations. As mentioned earlier, candidates are required to give the examinations for all the six subjects mentioned on the admit card. In addition, the students are advised to ensure there are no discrepancies in their names and other information in the ASSEB records.

How Will Assam HS Final Exam Results Be Calculated?

The board has instructed that the best of the five subjects shall be taken into account for the result calculation for candidates who will be declared passed Thus, a student who has performed exceptionally well in five subjects is likely to benefit from the best-of-five rule. However, they must remember that they are still expected to appear for the examinations for all the subjects mentioned on their admit cards. Additionally, they must meet the requirements for the components of the subjects (theory/practical/project).

The board has also announced that, “Within two months from the declaration of the result of the HS Final Examination for 2027, a special examination shall be conducted.” Eligible candidates who may have failed in one or two of the subjects (after appearing for five subjects or six subjects) will be allowed to appear for the special examination. Eligible candidates who have passed the examination may also apply for the special examination, if they wish to improve their marks. Candidates must check the exact eligibility and application guidelines from the official notification.
