Assm - Government of Assam, through the Department of School Education,  has released the official notification for the Special Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026, for the Lower Primary ( Ckasses I-V) and Upper Primary ( Classes VI-VIII) levels. The examinationwill be conducted for candidates intending to teach in Bodi, Garo, Manipuri and Hmar medium schools.

The registration window will remain open till February 7, 2026. Candidates must apply only through the official websites sebaonline.org, ssa.assam.gov.in, or scert.assam.gov.in.

According to the official notification,  the Special Assam Tet 2026 is being held under the provisions of the RTE Act, 2009, to address the shortage of language teachers in elementary schools across the state. Only permanent residents of Assam are eligible to participate in future teacher recruitment process, subject to fulfillment of otehr acedemic and professional qualifications as per NCTE norms. 

The special Assam TET 2026 will have Paper I and Paper II , each with 150 McQ's to be attempted in 2.5 hours, with no negative marking. The exam will be held in Assamese, Bengali, Bodo and English, the Qualifying mark is 60%  with relaxation for the reserved categories and the TET certificate will be valid for life.
