Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has invited online applications for the temporary appointment of Assistant Professor (Contractual) in Chinese in the Department of Foreign Languages, Faculty of International Studies.

According to Local Advertisement No. 01/2026 dated February 23, 2026, the appointment will be purely temporary and valid till the end of the Academic Session 2025–26 or until the General Selection Committee is held, whichever is earlier. The position is subject to termination without notice.

The university has notified one vacancy for the subject of Chinese. Candidates must possess a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks in Chinese from a recognized Indian university or an equivalent foreign institution. Additionally, applicants must have cleared NET conducted by UGC/CSIR or an equivalent test such as SLET/SET. Candidates holding a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC regulations (2009/2016 and amendments) are exempted from the NET requirement.

The notification also clarifies exemption conditions for candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to July 11, 2009, subject to fulfillment of specified academic and research criteria.

Interested candidates, including Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), have been advised to apply online through the university portal as per the prescribed guidelines.
