AIIA Launches Garbhini Mitra Course 2026: Check Eligibility, Duration and Application Deadline
New Delhi, August 2026: The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, has launched the Garbhini Mitra Course for the academic year 2026 to 2027, providing a structured route for those interested in supporting a maternal wellness approach through Ayurveda. The course and its official brochure and application form have been posted on the AIIA website. AIIA’s six-month program provides attendees with a foundation of health education, lifestyle modification and community support for expectant and new mothers. The program does not seek to substitute clinical antenatal care.
What Does the Garbhini Mitra Course 2026 Include?
The course framework presents the opportunity to study a host of essential Ayurvedic concepts concerned with maternal and reproductive health, including the antenatal, obstetric and postnatal periods. Based on the course outline, instruction in the course will consist of pregnancy trimester-specific dietetics, lifestyle, and yoga. Emotional support and newborn massage in addition to basic life support, will be addressed. The course includes infection control, sanitation and biomedical waste, as well as safety and health at the workplace. The role is designed to complement an established healthcare skill qualification. Healthcare Sector Skill Council has categorised Garbhini Mitra as a Level 3 healthcare qualification involving 360 notional hours.
Six-Month Offline Training at AIIA Delhi
The theory component of the Garbhini Mitra Course will be delivered at AIIA’s Sarita Vihar Campus in New Delhi. The course will be delivered in a structured part-time manner. Classes will be conducted on weekdays from 3 PM to 5 PM.
Each batch will accommodate 20 candidates. As per AIIA’s website, the Garbhini Mitra brochure and application form are amongst the recently published training and workshop advertisements. The last date for submitting the application is 31st August, 2026.
Who Can Apply for the Garbhini Mitra Course?
A candidate must have completed their senior secondary (State board recognized) or class 12 examination and be 18 years of age or older to be eligible to apply.
AIIA, in accordance with the course notification, has also made provision to accept applications from candidates who are waiting for their class 12 results. Candidates are advised to read the official AIIA brochure and application form for the admission procedure and other important requirements.
Career Opportunities after Completion of Garbhini Mitra Training
Successful candidates can apply for positions as Garbhini Mitra Assistant, Prenatal and Postnatal Care Assistant, Antenatal Wellness Guide, and Maternal Health Support Worker to name a few. The prospective workplaces include Ayurvedic Centers, maternity care clinics, NGO, community health projects, and wellness centers among others. The qualification of Garbhini Mitra has placed in the Healthcare Sector Skill Council. As per the NCVET document, this qualification is a Level 3 role in the healthcare sector.
Garbhini Mitra Does Not Replace Medical Care
The purpose of the course is to enhance maternal well-being and provide community-based assistance. The course is not designed to replace medical care. Pregnant women should still continue to receive regular antenatal checkups as well as diagnostic tests and clinical management. The trained staff can teach the pregnant women and their families about health-related issues and effective warning signs.
Women and their families should be encouraged to seek the services of a qualified physician when needed. This differentiation is important because the course integrates traditional concepts of Ayurveda with practical skills of healthcare support.
