AICTE Scholarship 2026, Prof. Shyama Rath Urges Colleges to Help Students Apply

During the regional awareness webinar, AICTE Member Secretary Prof. Shyama Rath requested that higher education institutions provide active guidance to students for participation in AICTE scholarships and fellowships initiatives. Awareness, applications, and students benefiting from financial, research, fellowship, and academic support will all increase.

AICTE Hosts a Regional Awareness Webinar for Colleges

To further its goal of getting more students to take advantage of government-provided financial aid, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has conducted a South-Central Region awareness webinar on its scholarship and fellowship programs. This was one of several initiatives and outreach programs. In the chair was AICTE Member Secretary, Prof. Shyama Rath, who asked higher educational institutions to promote the programs.

Numerous AICTE programs and initiatives that facilitate the award of scholarships and fellowships and the provision of research grants and academic programs for technical and academic advancement for students, faculty, and researchers of technical institutions were covered in the webinar. During the session, various AICTE bureaus officials presented the interactive session with various programs' eligibility, application, and benefit overview.

Institutes Urged to Create Awareness

Speaking to the attending universities and colleges representatives, Prof. Shyama Rath requested institutes to take the extra step of guiding students towards the most appropriate schemes that align with the students' academic and career aspirations, in addition to just forwarding the schemes' notifications.

AICTE mentioned that several scholarship and fellowship programs are underused because the eligible students are either not aware of the programs or fail to meet the deadlines to apply. The outreach aims to provide awareness and increase the level of applications from students in technical institutions.

What AICTE Scholarships and Fellowships Include

Various forms of aid from AICTE were viewed in the webinar, such as:

  • Scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Fellowships for post-doctoral and research scholars
  • Programs for development of faculty
  • Research and innovation grants
  • Schemes for institutional support in technical education
  • Initiatives for capacity building in higher education institutions

Following the explanation from AICTE officials on eligibility and documentation, as well as the timing and purpose of the various schemes, the attendees were able to better guide their students.

Importance of these Schemes

Pursuing postgraduate education is a financial burden on many students of engineering, pharmacy, management, and technical education. Fellowships help researchers concentrate on their research and help develop research in India. AICTE aims to make the schemes available to institutions, to raise awareness among the institutions, and to prevent students who need the schemes from missing government support because of a lack of knowledge.

Webinar Outreach

The South-Central Region webinar is part of the AICTE's extensive ongoing regional outreach program. Other similar webinars have been held in other regions in order to make colleges aware of the various schemes provided by the multiple AICTE bureaus.

Participants were assisted with the program on the selection of schemes, understanding eligibility conditions, and timely submissions of applications by faculty and students.

What Students Should Do

Students at AICTE-recognized institutions should:

  • Understand the requirements for scholarships and fellowships.
  • Communicate with the institution's scholarship office or the academic office.
  • Ensure that academic and identity documents are maintained consistently.
  • Apply for scholarships and fellowships on or before the deadlines.
  • Abide by the AICTE's official communication for the dates to apply.

Final Thoughts

The concern for increasing the number of scholarships and fellowships provided to students and researchers by the government and making those resources more accessible is reflected in AICTE's latest initiative. The AICTE will be receiving greater cooperation from teaching institutions to improve the outreach of this initiative.
