AICTE Announces Doctoral Fellowship Scheme for Academic Year 2025–26

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has officially invited applications for the AICTE Doctoral Fellowship (ADF) Scheme for the 2025–26 academic year. This initiative is designed to provide financial support to meritorious research scholars pursuing full-time PhD programs at AICTE-approved institutions and universities across the country. By offering this fellowship, the council aims to cultivate a robust research culture in technical and professional disciplines, ensuring that scholars can focus on high-quality academic and industrial research without financial constraints.

The fellowship is open to first-year PhD students who are currently enrolled in AICTE-approved institutions. The program covers a diverse array of disciplines, including Engineering and Technology, Management, Design, Planning, Applied Science, Applied Arts, Crafts, and Design, Hotel Management and Catering Technology, and Computer Applications. This broad scope ensures that students from various technical backgrounds have the opportunity to receive support for their doctoral studies.

The application process is strictly structured to ensure verification and transparency. All AICTE-approved institutes and universities are tasked with creating a unique student ID for eligible candidates on the AICTE ADF portal. Once the institute generates this system-based, unique ID, it must be distributed to the respective ADF students. Scholars are then required to use this ID to fill out and submit their online application forms through the official AICTE ADF portal.

Applicants must be prepared with several essential documents before initiating their online submission. These include a valid,d qualified examination scorecard, a well-structured research proposal, a copy of their Aadhaar card, and a category certificate if they are applying under a specific reservation quota. Ensuring these documents are ready in the prescribed digital format is vital for a smooth application experience.

Regarding the application timeline, the process for the first session (July admission) is already underway. The submission window for applications is open from January 5th and will close on April 20th. Following the submission phase, the evaluation of the applications will take place from May 1st to May 30th. The final announcement of the results is scheduled for June 15th, with the fellowship officially set to commence on July 1st. Candidates admitted in the July semester must ensure their applications are completed by the April 20th deadline to be considered for this cohort.

This fellowship represents a significant opportunity for aspiring researchers to secure the resources necessary to advance their careers. Beyond the financial stipend, the ADF scheme provides scholars with the prestige of a national-level fellowship, opening doors to advanced networking, collaboration, and high-impact research work. It serves as a vital bridge for students transitioning into full-time research, encouraging the pursuit of innovative projects that contribute meaningfully to the nation's technological and intellectual growth.

We understand that navigating the complexities of PhD fellowships can be a challenging journey. Remember that your research has the power to shape the future of technology and society. Stay diligent with your documentation and deadlines, and do not hesitate to reach out to your institution's nodal officer if you encounter any roadblocks with your student ID or the portal. We are rooting for your success as you embark on this exciting chapter of your academic career!
