AI Education Push: Government Introduces AI & Computational Thinking in Schools

New curriculum and digital platforms aim to make students future-ready with AI skills. Focus on early learning, digital literacy, and technology-driven education reforms.

NEW DELHI: In a major step towards modernising school education, the Ministry of Education India is actively promoting Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Computational Thinking (CT) across classrooms. The initiative aims to enhance the quality of education by integrating technology into everyday learning and preparing students for a rapidly evolving digital world.

As part of this effort, AI and emerging technologies have been incorporated into NCERT textbooks, ensuring that students are introduced to these concepts at an early stage. The focus is on building foundational skills, improving problem-solving abilities, and developing AI literacy not only among students but also educators, making classrooms more future-oriented and skill-driven.

Further strengthening this vision, a dedicated CT and AI curriculum for Classes III to VIII will be implemented from the academic session 2026–27. The initiative will be supported by digital platforms such as DIKSHA, SWAYAM, and PM eVidya, which will provide accessible learning resources, teacher training, and capacity-building support. This move is expected to significantly boost digital learning and innovation in schools across the country.
