New Delhi: Engineering graduates seeking central government jobs get a new opportunity. Union Public Service Commission notified the Engineering Services Examination 2027 recruitment details for around 480 posts across four specializations.

The application process commenced on September 16, 2026, and eligible candidates can apply till October 6, 2026, till 6 PM IST. UPSC has mentioned this exam in the notice no. 02/2027-ENGG.

UPSC ESE 2027: 480 Jobs Across 4 Engineering Streams

UPSC ESE 2027: Eligibility Criteria

The age calculation here means that one should be born on or after January 2, 1997, and on or before January 1, 2006. The candidates belonging to SC, ST, and OBC can claim the age relaxation as per the norms. Similarly, PwBD candidates can also claim age relaxation.

UPSC ESE 2027: Exam Pattern

The exam conducting body, UPSC, has designed a three-stage selection procedure for ESE 2027. These stages are:

• Stage 1: Preliminary Exam: This examination will be conducted in two papers. Both papers are objective type, out of which Paper I is on General Studies and Engineering Aptitude, and Paper II is on the concerned engineering discipline. Both papers will have a total of 500 marks.
• Stage 2: Main Examination: Candidates shortlisted for the mains examination will appear for two descriptive papers on the concerned engineering discipline.
• Stage 3: Personality Test: The candidates shortlisted for the final personality test will go through the interview process. The final merit list will be prepared considering the marks obtained in the mains examination, personality test, medical test, and document verification.

As per the previous year’s examination pattern, there will be a negative marking of one-third marks for every wrong answer in the objective-type papers.
