New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has revised the application schedule for the June 2026 session of the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) as of 20th May, 2026. The last dates for form submission, fee payment, and correction of details stand extended after requests from candidates upon the release of the original schedule on 29th April, 2026.
The UGC-NET is a specialised examination that determines the eligibility of Indian nationals for the award of a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and appointment to the post of Assistant Professor, for appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to doctoral programmes (Ph.D.), and for admission to Ph.D. only. Being a career-defining test for individuals across the nation, the extended dates will provide many more aspirants an opportunity to apply.
The deadline for the submission of the application form stands changed from 11:50 P.M. on 20th May, 2026, to 10 A.M. on 23rd May, 2026. The last date for the payment of the examination fee has also been extended from 20th May to 23rd May, though the time by which the transaction is to be made remains 11:50 P.M. The mode of payment may be credit or debit card, net banking, or UPI. The period for the correction of particulars, originally extending from 22nd May to 24th May, 2026, has now been revised to 25th May to 27th May; these corrections are to be made by 11:50 P.M. as well. Should those candidates who have already submitted their applications before the release of the revised schedule still wish to change any details in their forms (particularly with regards to e-mail address, mobile number, or Aadhar identification), they may do so in the window between 25th and 27th May.
The application fee for General Category applicants, General Category applicants belonging to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) or Other Backward Classes under the Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL), and applicants belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled tribes (SC/ST), Persons with Disability (PwD), or persons identifying as a third gender, is ₹ 1150, ₹ 600, and ₹ 325, respectively. Both the fee payment and the application form submission are to be done in the online mode through the UGC-NET page on the official NTA website. Only one application is to be submitted.
All other important dates related to the examination currently remain unchanged. Candidates will be notified about their assigned testing city, and will be able to download their admit card by 10th June, 2026, and 15th June, 2026, respectively. The official examination is to be conducted from 22nd June to 30th June, 2026.
