Tribal Girl From Remote Village Defies All Odds to Clear UGC-NET Exam
A young girl from a very small and remote tribal village have done something historic. Sunita Marandi, a 23-year-old resident of a tiny tribal village named Gopo in the Dumka district of Jharkhand, has cleared the highly competitive UGC-NET examination. This news have brought immense joy to the entire district. For a long time, people in her village did not even knew what higher education means. But Sunita changed everything with her hard work, successfully clearing the December session of the UGC-NET exam in Political Science, securing her qualification for Assistant Professor and Eligibility for Assistant Professor. Her father is a small farmer and the family income is very low. Still, she never gave up on her big dreams. She proved that if you have real determination, your background cannot stop you.
The path of education was never easy for Sunita because of so many problems. Her village suffer from constant power cuts, and during rainy seasons, the internet network completely disappears. She did not had money to buy expensive books or join big coaching classes in the city. Many times, she have to study under the kerosene lamp when there was no electricity at night. Her parents works very hard in the fields to manage daily food, so asking them for extra money for education was out of the question. Many people in the village also told her family that girls should not study so much, but her parents supported her fully. Despite these struggles, she completed her schooling from the local government high school in Dumka and went on to complete her Post Graduation from Sido Kanhu Murmu University (SKMU).
When we talk about her study routine, Sunita used a very simple but strict plan. Since she could not afford coaching, she relied entirely on self-study and free videos on YouTube. She used to wake up early at 4:00 AM before any chores starts. She made her own notes from old textbooks that she borrowed from seniors. Sunita focused heavily on solving previous years question papers. She practiced Paper 1 and Paper 2 multiple times until she understood the pattern completely. She says that consistency is more important than anything else, and she made sure to study at least 8 hours every day without any break. Her achievement was officially validated following the NTA (National Testing Agency) result confirmation and scorecards released by the official UGC-NET portal.
This major achevement of Sunita is not just a personal victory, but it is a big win for her whole community. In tribal areas, higher education among girls are still very rare. Now, after seeing Sunita success, many other parents in the village is planning to send their daughters to college. The village headmen organized a small celebration program to honor her achievement. Sunita has suddenly become a role model for all the young students in her area. Everyone are talking about how she broke the barriers. She has showed everyone that local village schools can also produce toppers if students work hard.
Looking forward, Sunita do not want to stop here. Her main goal now is to complete her PhD and become a professor in a government university. She want to teach students who come from poor backgrounds just like her. Sunita believes that education is the only weapon that can wipe out poverty from tribal areas permanently. She want to start a small free library in her village so that other kids do not face the shortage of books like she did. Her incredible story tells us that no village is too remote and no dream is too big if you are ready to fight the odds.
