Sonipat:What makes a university more than just a place for lectures, assignments and examinations? For many students, it is the friendships they build, the experiences they share and the sense of belonging they develop beyond the classroom. Reflecting this aspect of university life, Ashoka University is set to host The Great Ashokan Weekend (TGOW) on October 25, 2026.
According to the university’s official event calendar, the programme is scheduled to take place on campus from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event is listed under student activities and is expected to bring attention to the role of informal interactions in strengthening campus culture.
The Great Ashokan Weekend was initiated to encourage interaction among students, faculty members and university staff in a fun and informal environment. As explained in Ashoka University’s student handbook, the activities are designed around different spaces and landmarks on campus, allowing participants to experience the university beyond their regular academic routines.
Earlier editions of the event have featured activities such as Pitch Please, Ashoka Family Feud, Fantasy Mess Menu and Pajama Dance Dazel. These activities demonstrate how games, creative challenges and shared experiences can provide opportunities for members of the university community to interact outside formal academic settings. However, the university has not confirmed whether these activities will return in the October 2026 edition.
Events such as TGOW also highlight the importance of student participation in building an inclusive campus environment. University life involves more than academic achievement; it also offers opportunities to develop communication skills, collaborate with people from different backgrounds and form lasting connections. Informal campus activities can help create spaces where students and staff interact more freely.
With the event approaching, further details about the activities planned for this edition would help students understand what to expect. The university’s official event calendar currently confirms the date, timing and on-campus venue.
The Great Ashokan Weekend is therefore an opportunity to look at campus life from a broader perspective, where learning and community engagement can extend beyond the classroom.
