Erode: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan has called upon educational institutions to move beyond conventional education and develop into global centres of knowledge, research and innovation.
Addressing the Founders’ Day celebrations and inauguration of ‘Arivukoodam’ of the Kongu Vellalar Institute of Technology (KVIT) Trust at Perundurai in Erode, the Vice President said research, innovation and stronger collaboration between industry and academia would be crucial to India's continued progress.
Youth Should Embrace Research-Oriented Education
The Vice President urged young people to continuously upgrade their knowledge and transition from basic education towards research-oriented learning.
He encouraged students and young professionals to actively participate in research, innovation and patent development while preparing themselves for emerging areas such as:
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Robotics
Semiconductors
Quantum technology
Biotechnology
Digital technology
Highlighting the rapidly changing nature of the world, C. P. Radhakrishnan stressed that “change is the only constant” and encouraged young people to identify their strengths, establish clear goals and pursue them with perseverance.
He also highlighted the importance of yoga and meditation for mental well-being and sharper intellect, while recalling Swami Vivekananda's message that individuals become what they think.
Educational Institutions Should Become Knowledge Hubs
The Vice President appreciated the vision of the 41 founders of the KVIT Trust and noted that nearly one lakh people have received education through its institutions.
He also praised the Trust's contribution to the development of education in the Kongu region and its international linkages with institutions and organisations in countries including Germany, the United States, France and Japan.
C. P. Radhakrishnan expressed confidence that Arivukoodam would develop into an important hub for research, innovation and knowledge creation, helping the institutions emerge as global knowledge centres.
Industry-Academia Collaboration to Drive Innovation
Emphasising the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and industry, the Vice President said research, innovation and industry-academia partnerships are essential for India's development.
During the programme, he visited an exhibition organised by the Technology Business Incubator of Kongu Engineering College, where innovative projects and technology-based solutions were showcased.
MoUs were also exchanged between Anchor Industries and Arivukoodam – A Research Park in the presence of the Vice President. The collaboration is aimed at strengthening industry-academia engagement and creating greater opportunities for research and innovation.
Arivukoodam Research Park and Other Projects Unveiled
C. P. Radhakrishnan also unveiled plaques commemorating the foundation stone laying of several initiatives, including:
- Arivukoodam – A Research Park
- Pharmacy College
- Kongu Naturopathy and Yoga Medical College
- Cloud Kitchen of KVIT Trust
The Vice President also felicitated distinguished individuals associated with the college and the Trust during the programme.
The event was attended by Governor of Tamil Nadu and Kerala Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Supreme Court Judge Justice M. M. Sundresh, KVIT Trust Chairman Shri Devarajan, among other dignitaries.
