New Delhi, September 2, 2026: Union Education Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi highlighted the significant role of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in shaping India’s school education system and supporting the vision of Viksit Bharat, while addressing the organisation’s 66th Foundation Day.

The Minister emphasised NCERT’s key responsibility in implementing the transformation envisioned under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with a focus on improving learning opportunities for both students and teachers.

Highlighting NCERT’s efforts towards multilingual and inclusive education, Shri Joshi noted that textbooks for Grades 1 to 8 are being made available in 22 Scheduled Indian languages. He also highlighted the development of primers in 121 languages, including 93 primers in tribal languages, aimed at making foundational learning more accessible to children from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

The Education Minister also underlined the growing role of digital education initiatives in expanding access to quality learning resources. Platforms and initiatives such as PM eVidya, DIKSHA and eJaadui Pitara are helping teachers and students access educational content through digital and technology-enabled formats.

The initiatives reflect NCERT’s broader efforts to promote accessibility, inclusion and quality in school education, while supporting the objectives of NEP 2020.

The 66th Foundation Day celebrations highlighted a vision of transforming India’s school education ecosystem through multilingual resources, inclusive practices and digital learning, contributing to the larger goal of building a Viksit Bharat.
