NCERT Career Exhibition Showcases 39 Emerging Career Options for 500+ Students in Delhi

New Delhi, September 10, 2026: A career exhibition organised under the Diploma Course in Guidance and Counselling (DCGC) of the Department of Educational Psychology and Foundations of Education (DEPFE), NCERT, New Delhi, showcased 39 exhibits on emerging career opportunities and attracted more than 500 students and teachers at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sector 2, R.K. Puram.

The exhibition was organised under the guidance and supervision of Professor Prabhat Kumar Mishra, Head, DEPFE, on September 10, 2026. The initiative aimed to expose students to emerging career pathways and encourage them to make informed choices based on their skills, interests and abilities.

NCERT Career Exhibition Highlights 39 Emerging Career Options

The Diploma Course trainees presented 39 exhibits focusing on emerging careers and newer professional opportunities. The exhibition provided students and teachers with an opportunity to explore career options beyond conventional choices and understand the changing nature of the employment landscape.

More than 500 students and teachers attended the exhibition, making it a platform for career exploration and interaction between students, educators and professionals.

Padma Shri Awardee Dadi Dorab Pudumjee Inaugurates Exhibition

The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri Dadi Dorab Pudumjee, Padma Shri awardee and founder of the Ishara Puppet Theatre Trust, New Delhi.

Addressing the students, he highlighted the importance of selecting careers according to an individual's innate skills and abilities. His message emphasised the need for students to understand their own strengths while considering future education and career pathways.

Career Talk on AI Engineering

A key component of the programme was a career talk on AI Engineering delivered by Mr. Tushar Gaurav, Software Engineer, Organgewood Labs, New Delhi.

The session covered several aspects of pursuing a career in artificial intelligence, including:

  • Career opportunities in AI
  • Common myths and misconceptions about artificial intelligence
  • Pathways to becoming an AI engineer
  • The AI engineering work environment
  • Personal traits and skills relevant to the field

The session offered students practical insights into one of the rapidly developing areas of technology and helped them understand the skills and preparation required to explore AI-related careers.

Focus on Informed Career Choices

The exhibition was designed around the broader objective of helping students make informed career decisions. Rather than limiting career exploration to traditionally popular professions, the programme introduced students to emerging areas and encouraged them to consider their individual interests and capabilities.

Career exhibitions and counselling activities can help students understand the relationship between their interests, abilities, education and potential professional pathways. Such exposure is particularly relevant as new technology-driven and interdisciplinary career opportunities continue to emerge.

Educators and Trainees Contribute to Programme

Several educators and programme participants contributed to the event. Shri Satya Narain, Principal, PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sector 2, R.K. Puram, Dr. Neelam, Assistant Professor, DEPFE, and Smt. Amandeep Kaur, Diploma Course trainee, were also associated with the programme.

The initiative brought together NCERT’s expertise in educational psychology and guidance with practical career exploration activities, providing students with exposure to a wider range of career possibilities.

Why Emerging Career Awareness Matters for Students

For students approaching important educational decisions, awareness of emerging careers can help broaden the range of options they consider. Careers connected with artificial intelligence, technology and other developing fields may require students to understand not only academic qualifications but also relevant skills, interests and personal attributes.

The NCERT career exhibition therefore provided a platform where students could explore different possibilities and engage with information about changing career pathways.

Through such initiatives under its Diploma Course in Guidance and Counselling, NCERT continues to emphasise the role of structured career guidance in helping students understand themselves, explore opportunities and make more informed decisions about their future.
