IIT Jodhpur has launched a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Management and Technology, designed to prepare students for the rapidly evolving demands of the modern workforce.
According to Prof. Avinash Kumar Agarwal, Director, IIT Jodhpur, today's employers expect graduates to possess a combination of technological understanding and management capabilities. He noted that the skills required to be job-ready are changing much faster than conventional academic curricula, making flexibility and interdisciplinary learning essential for future professionals.
The institute has observed that prospective students are approaching higher education with a strong focus on career outcomes. During counselling sessions and admissions interactions, many applicants sought detailed information about internship opportunities, placement support and salary prospects rather than general course descriptions.
This trend indicates that Gen Z students are making informed and market-driven educational decisions, carefully evaluating programmes based on their long-term career value.
Students from Diverse Backgrounds Showing Interest
The programme has attracted applicants from a wide range of academic disciplines.

IIT Kanpur Launches AI and Business Analytics Certificate Programme
Complementing this trend, IIT Kanpur has announced a six-month online Certificate Programme in Advanced Data Science and Machine Learning for Business Analytics, scheduled to commence on October 3, 2026.
The programme is aimed primarily at working professionals who want to strengthen their expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning and business analytics while continuing their careers.
According to the institute, professionals today need far more than domain-specific knowledge. Organisations increasingly expect employees to use AI, automation and data-driven decision-making to improve business performance and drive innovation.
Professor Abhinav Tripathi, Programme Coordinator at IIT Kanpur, said professionals must continuously upgrade their AI and machine learning skills to solve complex business problems and lead digital transformation initiatives.
The curriculum includes hands-on training in:
