Guwahati, September 2026: IIT Guwahati announced three new scholarship and fellowship initiatives for students during its 33rd Foundation Day celebrations. The scholarships have been instituted in memory of distinguished individuals and are aimed at supporting meritorious students across engineering, development studies and technology programmes.
The Anup Kumar Gogoi Scholarship, instituted by Ziroh Labs, will be awarded to one meritorious student from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Computer Science (CS), or Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The scholarship honours Prof. Anup Kumar Gogoi, one of the founding members of the EEE Department at IIT Guwahati. He is remembered for his contribution as a dedicated teacher and mentor, whose guidance also played an important role in the journey of Ziroh Labs.
Another initiative, the Dr. Manmohan Singh Fellowship, has been instituted in memory of former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh by the Manmohan Singh Trust. The fellowship will support two Master's students pursuing Development Studies.
The third initiative comprises the Priyakrishna and Monisha Bhattacharya Fellowships, instituted by Dr. Amit Kanta Mitra in memory of his wife's parents. These fellowships will support two MTech students each from the Department of Biosciences & Bioengineering and the School of Agro & Rural Technology.
The new scholarships and fellowships expand opportunities for students to pursue higher education while recognising the contributions and legacy of individuals associated with teaching, mentorship, public service and academic development.
