Bhubaneswar, September 5, 2026: The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) inaugurated its 54th National Convention of Company Secretaries in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on September 5, 2026. The three-day annual convention is being held with the theme “NextGen CS – Catalyst of Growth & Guardian of Governance.”

The convention brings together Company Secretaries, regulators, industry leaders, government officials, directors, professionals and other stakeholders for discussions on emerging issues related to corporate governance, compliance, professional development and the evolving role of Company Secretaries.

ICSI Signs MoUs with FICCI and PaperLite

ICSI also signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with FICCI and PaperLite during the event.

The institute further announced webinar initiatives covering emerging areas of governance and professional practice, including:

  • AI-Powered Company Secretary: Transforming Secretarial Practice, Governance & Compliance

Focus on Next-Generation Company Secretaries

Speaking about the convention, Shri Inderdeep Singh Dhariwal, Additional Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General (Retd.), described the gathering as a platform where the experience of the past meets the possibilities of the future.

He said the thoughtfully curated sessions provide a strong foundation for developing the next generation of professional leadership.

CS Pawan G. Chandak, President of ICSI, highlighted the importance of integrity, trust and accountability in the profession. He said Company Secretaries have an important role in providing ethical guidance, strengthening governance and supporting boards and regulators.

Senior ICSI Officials Address Gathering

The inaugural programme was also addressed by CS Dwarakanath Chennur, Vice President, ICSI; CS Venkata Ramana R, Council Member and Chairman, Professional Development Committee; CS Sandip Kumar Kejriwal, Council Member and Programme Director; and CS Bishal Harlalka, Chairman, EIRC, ICSI.

Srimanta Baboo, Chairman, Bhubaneswar Chapter, ICSI, was also present at the occasion.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by CS Asish Mohan, Secretary, ICSI.

With participation from professionals, regulators, industry representatives and policymakers, the 54th National Convention is set to provide a platform for examining the changing responsibilities of Company Secretaries and the profession’s role in promoting stronger governance, compliance, innovation and sustainable growth.
