Central University of Punjab Celebrates Teachers’ Day with Enthusiasm
Bathinda, September 3, 2026: The Central University of Punjab (CU Punjab) celebrated Teachers’ Day with enthusiasm, honouring the contribution of teachers and recognising their role in guiding, mentoring and shaping the lives of students.
The programme was organised by students of the School of Education under the patronage of Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ramakrishna Wusirika. Senior university officials, faculty members and students participated in the celebration, which combined tributes, speeches and cultural performances.
The event witnessed the presence of senior university officials, including Dr. Vijay Sharma, Registrar; Prof. Anjna Munshi, Director R&D; Prof. Monisha Dhiman, Director, IQAC; Prof. Sanjeev K. Thakur, Dean Students’ Welfare; Prof. B. P. Garg, Controller of Examinations; Prof. Rajkumar Sharma, Finance Officer; Prof. P. K. Mishra, Associate DIA; Prof. Shankar Lal Bika, Former Dean & HOD; and Dr. Sesadeba Pany, ITEP Coordinator.
Tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan
As part of the celebration, dignitaries paid floral tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India, whose birth anniversary is observed as Teachers’ Day in the country.
The dignitaries also participated in the ceremonial watering of the Triveni, symbolising growth, knowledge and continuity.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Shamshir Singh Dhillon, HOD and Dean, School of Education. On behalf of Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ramakrishna Wusirika, he extended greetings to the teachers and dignitaries attending the event.
Teachers Recognised as Mentors and Guides
During the programme, university dignitaries shared their thoughts on Teachers’ Day and appreciated the contribution of faculty members to the academic and overall development of students.
They encouraged students to value their teachers not only as educators but also as mentors and guides who play an important role in their personal and professional growth.
Students also expressed their gratitude through a special Teachers’ Day speech delivered by Samrita Pany.
Cultural Performances Add to Celebration
The celebration featured a series of cultural performances presented by students.
Shagun presented a welcome dance, while Sameera performed a welcome song. A Punjabi song was presented by Harpreet Singh, followed by poetry recitations by Azad, Harsh Kumar and Abu Zarr.
A departmental video presentation was also screened during the programme. The video captured memorable moments from the department and highlighted the contributions of faculty members, adding a personal touch to the celebration.
The Teachers’ Day celebration at CU Punjab concluded with appreciation and gratitude, highlighting the meaningful bond between teachers and students and the important role educators play in shaping the next generation.
